I've had a few inquiries regarding how the ladies of the Strip accommodate the wheelchair/handicapped individuals. I have contacted some the ladies who I had e-mails for, and asked them to describe their accommodations so those of you who need this information will have it for reference. The ladies who have responded are in alphabetical order.

There are two types of handicap accessible rooms at this new girl on the street: 61 handicap room and 2 accessible room. Both comply with all provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Bedroom features include:

• Wider doorways
• Lowered closet rods
• Lowered vanity with lighted make-up mirror
• Telephone with amplified handset
• Fire alarm with light

Bathroom features include:

• Safety bars around the tub and toilet
• Roll-in shower
• Raised toilet
• Wheelchair accessible sink

Accessible rooms:

• The accessible rooms connect to deluxe rooms and include all the attributes of the handicap rooms
• The accessible rooms feature "Handi Move" electronic lifts, cordless telephone, wheelchair accessible light controls, automatic drapery controls and touch control bedside lamps

Both Circus Circus and The Adventuredome have accommodations for wheelchair bound customers. In addition, wheelchair rentals are available. For motorized wheelchairs, rentals start at around $17. Please call the front desk at check for details.

I wasn't able to talk to my contact person but her secretary stated that certain rooms and all showrooms are handicapped accessible.

Harrah's offer guest rooms with wheelchair accessibility in the following numbers: There are 32 rooms with king Beds, and 32 rooms with two queen Beds.

Some of the accessible rooms feature roll in showers, as well as others that feature standard tubs with handrails.

The seasonal pool is accessible by elevator to the second floor and then by hydraulic powered lift to the actual pool deck level.

The two showrooms and both are accessible by elevator.

The restaurants at Harrah's are primarily on the casino level with no accessibility barriers. The Range is on a mezzanine level and has a dedicated elevator located on the casino level as well.

The shops are very easy to access. Some are in the hotel lobby area on the casino level and others are outside in our Carnaval Court on street level.

All areas of the gaming tables and slots are on the main casino level, including the race and sports book.

There are two types of handicap accessible rooms at MGM Grand - Standard accessible room, and accessible with roll-in shower.

Bedroom features include:

• Electric switches, outlets and heating and air-conditioning controls are 29 inches from the floor for total wheelchair accessibility
• In-room refrigerator (only upon request)
• Lowered peep holes on guestroom doors
• Lowered closet rod(s)
• Telephone with amplified headset
• Fire alarm with light for the hearing impaired on certain rooms (hearing-impaired rooms).

Bathroom features include:

• Safety bars surrounding shower and commode
• Lowered towel bars and tissue holders
• Special height commode
• Accessible sink
• Roll-in shower also available with shower bench
• Accessible shower spray with extension in roll-in showers

Hospitality kits for the hearing impaired are available upon request and contain:

• Door knob light
• Telephone call alert
• Vibrating alarm clock
• Telecaption decoder/TDD phone

There are three types of handicap accessible rooms at this lady: Standard Accessible room, Accessible with roll-in shower and "Handi-Move" Accessible room (electronic lift equipment for those in wheelchairs).

Bedroom features include:

• "Handi-Move" electronic lift to enable a person to be transferred from a wheelchair to the bed with or without assistance from a companion. Bed lowered to height of 22 inches above the floor. Maximum weight allowed is 300 pounds
• Electric drapery controls are installed 29 inches from the floor
• Wireless telephone
• Electric switches, outlets and heating and air-conditioning controls are 29 inches from the floor for total wheelchair accessibility
• "Touch" control bedside lamps
• In-room refrigerator
• Foam "egg crate" bed pads are kept in the room

The Monte Carlo has 110 handicapped rooms. The restaurants, showrooms, and pool, are all handicapped accessible.

Lance Burton Theatre is set up for all kinds of handicapped people in compliance with the ADA Act. Please tell the ticket agent that you need special accommodations when buying your tickets.

All the shows have wheelchair access as well as the restaurants including the second floor buffet. There are 44 rooms set aside for the handicapped.

There are four types of handicap accessible rooms at this lady: 32 Standard Accessible rooms with tubs, 31 Accessible with roll-in showers, 1 "Sure Hands" (lift and transfer devices for those in wheelchairs) Accessible room that has two motor-driven devices (lift and transfer equipment), one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom, which assist guests in wheelchairs, and 39 Hearing impaired equipped with flashing lights labeled "Door/Phone" located in the bedroom and bathroom. In addition, visual and audible fire alarm/speaker system has been provided throughout the entire hotel.

Bedroom features include:

• Entry doors are three feet wide
• Two peepholes are provided, one at 44 inches and one at 60 inches
• Light switches are at 54 inches
• Additional outlet provided adjacent to bed at 36 inches
• All doors have been provided with lever handles
• Accessible closets have shelves 44 inches tall
• Thermostats are at 44 inches from floor
• All accessible guest rooms have a connecting room

Bathroom features include:

• Bathroom doors are three feet wide
• Bathrooms have been designed to accommodate wheelchair turning
